Covid-19 Best Practices Procedure And Source Control Plan

In order to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19 the treatment sessions at Alive and Well Acupuncture Clinic will be administered following the the best practices guidelines and revised appropriately in phase 1 2 & 3 of reopening.

These guidelines are recommended by the Federal Government, FDOH, CDC, and OSHA. See our full plan on the Covid-19 page of this website.

We Have installed 2 fans in each treatment room that have the capacity to ventilating the the room air out of the building. There is a total of 400 CFM for each room allowing for the entire room to be cleansed of vapor within a half hour. 

THE CURRENT RISK OF TRANSMISSION OF THE COVID INFECTION HAS REQUIRED BUSINESSES INCLUDING ALIVE AND WELL ACUPUNCTURE CLINIC TO IMPLEMENT A BEST PRACTICES COVID PLAN INCLUDING A POLICIES AND PROCEDURE SYSTEM OF DELIVERING SAFE MEDICAL TREATMENTS.                

ALIVE AND WELL ACUPUNCTURE HAS CREATED ITS OWN PROCEDURE AND SOURCE CONTROL PLAN TO LOWER RISK AND TRANSMISSION OF COVID-19

PROVIDED BELOW IS THE OUTLINE OF THE IMPLEMENTED PLAN. THE PLAN WILL INCLUDE THE ONGOING NECESSARY REVISIONS DURING PHASE ONE, TWO, AND THREE OF REOPENING.

THE REVISIONS MADE WILL BE UPDATED AND COMMUNICATED VIA VOICE AND MAIL MESSAGES, ALONG WITH WEBSITE CHANGES. THESE REVISIONS WILL INCLUDE HOURS OF OPERATION AND NUMBER OF PATIENTS ALIVE AND WELL ACUPUNCTURE WILL TREAT HOURLY AND DAILY.  THE CLINIC WILL ALSO ADVERTISE THE SPECIFIC HEALTH CONDITIONS THAT WILL BE TREATED DURING EACH OF THE THREE REOPENING PHASES.

THERE WILL BE NO TREATMENTS WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT.

THERE WILL BE AN ASSESSMENT OF RISK TOLERANCE FOR EACH PATIENT DURING EACH OF THE THREE REOPENING PHASES.

THE WAITING ROOM IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

THERE IS A HIGHER LIABILITY INCURRED TO ALIVE AND WELL ACUPUNCTURE BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION OF COVID-19.

A POSTER OF DONNING AND DOFFING CLOTHING AND TREATMENT GOWNS WILL BE VISIBLE.

IMPLEMENTATION OF POSSIBLE BARRIERS WILL OCCUR IF NEEDED.

ALL STAFF AT ALIVE AND WELL ACUPUNCTURE WILL BE TRAINED AND EDUCATED IN THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ROLES IN THE BEST PRACTICES PLANS AND PROCEDURES THAT ARE IN PLACE. THEY WILL FOLLOW AND EXECUTE THEM.

WHEN POSSIBLE, WE WILL CONTACT THE PATIENT 18 -24 HOURS BEFORE TREATMENT VIA TEXT, EMAIL OR PHONE TO CONFIRM APPOINTMENTS.

WE WILL SEND YOU THE ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK AND WAVER OF LIABILITY RELATING TO CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19.

THE PATIENT CAN SIGN THE WAVIER OUTSIDE THE FRONT DOOR OF THE OFFICE OR PRE-SIGN IT AND EMAIL IT BACK TO THE OFFICE, BUT IT WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE TREATMENT.

EACH PATIENT MUST COME AT THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME.

THE PATIENT WILL KNOCK ON THE DOOR AT THE APPOINTMENT TIME, AS THE DOOR WILL BE LOCKED.

THE PRACTITIONER WILL GREET THE PATIENT WEARING A SURGICAL OR N95 MASK WITH GLOVES ON.

THE COVID-19 PATIENT SCREENING QUESTIONNAIRE WILL BE FILLED OUT OUTSIDE THE FRONT DOOR PRIOR TO THE TREATMENT APPOINTMENT.

EVERY PATIENT MUST COME WEARING A REQUIRED MASK AND GLOVES.

IF THE PATIENT DOES NOT HAVE A MASK OR GLOVES, THEY WILL BE PROVIDED; EVERY PATIENT MUST WEAR A MASK IN ORDER TO BE TREATED.

THE PRACTITIONER WILL TAKE THE TEMPERATURE OF THE PATIENT OUTSIDE THE FRONT DOOR, AND RECORD IT.

IF A PATIENT’S TEMPERATURE IS 100 OR ABOVE, HE OR SHE WILL BE REFERRED TO AN APPROPRIATE FACILITY.

AFTER EACH PATIENT ENTERS THE OFFICE, THE FRONT DOOR WILL BE LOCKED AGAIN.

AFTER THE PATIENT ENTERS THE OFFICE, HE OR SHE WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE TREATMENT ROOM.

WE WILL MANAGE EACH PATIENT’S MOVEMENTS IN THE OFFICE WITH NO BOTTLE NECKS.

ONCE IN THE TREATMENT ROOM, AN EXAM AND SUBJECTIVE HISTORY WILL BE NOTED.

THE PATIENT WILL USE A GOWN, IF APPROPRIATE.

THE PATIENT WILL AVOID LAYING FACE DOWN IF POSSIBLE; POSITIONS MAY BE LIMITED.

THE TREATMENT WILL THEN BE PERFORMED.

THE PRACTITIONER’S GLOVES ARE REMOVED WHEN LEAVING THE TREATMENT ROOM, AND A NEW PAIR IS PUT ON WHEN RE-ENTERING TREATMENT ROOM.

THE PATIENT AND PRACTITIONER WILL NEVER REMOVE THEIR FACE MASKS DURING THE ENTIRE OFFICE VISIT.

THE PRACTITIONER WILL WEAR CLOTHES EASILY WASHED, WITHOUT PLEATS OR EXTRA FABRIC IF NOT USING A GOWN.  THE PRACTIONER WILL STORE SEVERAL SETS OF SCRUBS OR CLOTHES CHANGES AT THE OFFICE. THE PRACTITIONER WILL CHANGE INTO A STERILE SET OF SCRUBS OR CLOTHES AFTER EACH PATIENT HAS LEFT AND THE OFFICE HAS BEEN SANITIZED.

THE PRACTITIONER WILL NOT WEAR JEWELRY.

THE PRACTITIONER WILL FOLLOW CDC AND CCAOM GUIDANCE ON HAND WASHING FREQUENTLY.

EVERY PATIENT WILL SANITIZE HANDS BEFORE LEAVING THE TREATMENT ROOM, IF FOR SOME REASON DEEMED ACCEPTABLE BUY THE PRACTIONER THE PATIENT DOES NOT WEAR GLOVES; OTHERWISE, THE PATIENT REMOVES GLOVES ONLY AFTER LEAVING THE OFFICE.

THE PRACTITIONER COLLECTS PAYMENT AND SCHEDULES THE NEXT APPOINTMENT WHILE IN THE TREATMENT ROOM, IF POSSIBLE; OTHERWISE, IT IS DONE AT A DESIGNATED AREA AT THE FRONT DESK.

THE PRACTITIONER ESCORTS EACH PATIENT TO THE DOOR AND RE LOCKS THE DOOR.

THE PRACTITIONER CLEANS THE TREATMENT TABLE, FLOORS, LIGHT SWITCHES, DOOR KNOBS, AND ALL NEEDED SURFACES.

TOWELS AND LAUNDRY ARE FOLDED AND WASHED IN APPROPRIATE DETERGENT/BLEACH.

ALL POST CARE MATERIALS WILL BE SPRAYED WITH EPA APPROVED DISINFECTANTS AND TAKEN TO THE TRASH.

WE WILL CREATE DAILY MAINTENANCE LOGS TO RECORD CLEANING OF ALL OFFICE AREAS, INDICATING WHEN, WHERE, AND WHAT WAS CLEANED AND WHO DID THE CLEANING.

WE WILL COMPLETE AND DOCUMENT SELF EXAMS AND OFFICE SCREENING QUESTIONNAIRES DAILY.

PPE IS NOT CONSIDERED BIO MEDICAL WASTE.
